The Academy

The Academy is the most comprehensive course offered by the Teletraining Institute, and helps instructors make the transition from a traditional classroom setting to a media-rich active-learning environment. This two-week course addresses the challenges educators and trainers face with integrating presentation graphics, audio, video and the Internet into their already seasoned lecture material.

This year's Academy is guaranteed to be the best Academy ever. These distance education techniques and methodologies have evolved for nearly two decades and have been successfully implemented by thousands of instructors and trainers, worldwide. The course components continue to be student-driven, providing a dynamic experience for every participant. As the only course of its kind in the nation, The Academy has accommodated over 300 distance educators from North America and around the world.
At the conclusion of The Academy, participants will have gained the ability to:

  • Adapt content from existing courses and design an effective hands-on curriculum through the use of Teletechniques.
  • Integrate multimedia and visual tools into a distance education format, including video, presentation graphics and the Internet.
  • Encourage active learner involvement and interaction through participation and feedback techniques.
  • Adapt a variety of presentation styles and delivery strategies to the presentation format.
  • Be comfortable in the distance education environment and understand its capabilities and limitations.
  • Identify various technologies used in distance education, including transmission options and facilities design.



The Academy meets the first phase core curriculum requirement
for the Certified Distance Learning Instructor (CDLI) program.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Trainers and instructors who are responsible for designing a course for distance delivery; adapting existing training to a new format for distance education; or implementing new techniques to make training more cost effective.

LOCATION
This hands-on Academy is available exclusively at the Teletraining Institute’s 12,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility, located in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
