Teaching On-Line with Blackboard

This hands-on workshop helps you get started using Blackboard as an online software package for delivering instruction via the world wide web. With a strong emphasis on integrating multimedia into the Blackboard environment, Teletraining Institute helps participants develop various templates and interface to establish a consistent instructional environment. This course is designed to give instructors the skill needed to place course content, syllabi, announcements, discussion forums, quizzes, photographs, images, and links to other websites on the web inside the Blackboard software. It also allows instructors the opportunity to create video streaming products and insert those into Blackboard. The Teletraining Institute has all the studio equipment for chromakey video construction to help you make a professional quality product. Get ready to "roll up your sleeves and get down to work" using the various technologies at the Teletraining Institute as well trying out new instructional techniques.

An informal presentation of your developed Blackboard Course before course leaders and peers is required to successfully complete this course.

WHAT TO BRING
Bring content material which may include text, audio, video, clipart, pictures to be scanned, questions and/or other analysis materials.

We have available Microsoft Word 2000, PowerPoint 2000, FrontPage 2000, Adobe Premiere and Photoshop. We also have an Iomega zip drive (100MB), Internet connections using Netscape and Internet Explorer, HP scanner, Miro DC20 video card for video clips, and Multimedia PC Computer Systems. Bring your own zip disk to transport data from our computer to your computer.

PREREQUISITES
Participants should be familiar with computers, including using Windows 95, 98 or 2000, word processing, and e-mail. Internet experience is helpful along with a willingness to learn new applications. You will learn all application software needed to be successful in this course.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is for individuals, trainers, teachers, companies, schools and universities who are just beginning to do course conversions; that is, converting a normal classroom course to a distance education course using Blackboard.
