Technician Training


Technician Training for Distance Education is the first step in the professional development of a distance education technician. It focuses on developing resources for those who are unfamiliar with the technology of distance education and for seasoned technicians who are new to the world of distance education.

The Teletraining Institute brings in real-world practitioners to teach you what works and doesn't work. Learning modules provide up-to-date information in the fast-paced/fast-changing world of distance ed. Technology and include audio basics, video basics, computer network design, network operational procedures, facility design, transmission methods, and troubleshooting strategies.

All sections of this training will be done using actual working equipment with every student having the opportunity to work with the equipment and become familiar with its operation and limitations. In addition to the exposure to the latest technology, each student will have the opportunity to:

  • Set up a Local Area Network
  • Create a video clip that is streamed on the Internet
  • Set up and use audio and video equipment
  • Solder leads to connectors
  • Build different types of cables
  • Set up and administer an MCU and other teleconferencing devices
  • Design simple web pages

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Technologists, educators, engineers, telecommunications and information services personnel, equipment and service vendors, those new to distance education, and others interested and committed to distance education.

Classes are held on-site in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
