Teletechniques I

Teletechniques I is a five-day course that represents the first building block in the professional development of a distance educator. This course is a comprehensive week-long program that focuses on learning activities, techniques, and resources that help you begin designing and delivering distance education programs. Hands-on activities are emphasized along with the overriding philosophy that developing content is the key.

The main learning modules include a complete orientation to distance education technologies; a thorough introduction to designing courses based on the five basic design components of humanizing, participation, message style, feedback, and evaluation as well as effective use of 12 interactive formats; hands-on learning with visual tools such as presentation graphics, electronic field trips, video editing and graphics for video; and an indispensable guide to managing distance education in your own organization.


A presentation before course leaders and peers is required to successfully complete this course.

At the conclusion of this course, participants will have gained the ability to:
  • Adapt content from existing courses and design an effective hands-on curriculum through the use of Teletechniques.
  • Integrate multimedia and visual tools into a distance education format, including video, presentation graphics and the Internet.
  • Encourage active learner involvement and interaction through participation and feedback techniques.
  • Adapt a variety of presentation styles and delivery strategies to the presentation format.
  • Be comfortable in the distance education environment and understand its capabilities and limitations.
  • Identify various technologies used in distance education, including transmission options and facilities design.



Teletechniques I meets the first phase core curriculum requirement
for the Certified Distance Learning Instructor (CDLI) program.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is for individuals who are just beginning their distance education careers. It is for teachers and trainers who have a desire to develop knowledge and skill as a distance educator.

Classes are held on site in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
