Teletechniques II

Teletechniques II is the second step in a distance educator's professional development. It follows Teletechniques I, Web-Based Instruction, or the Academy. It is a five-day course which enhances and augments your distance teaching skills by allowing you to observe other experienced distance educators and to practice new distance teaching and learning techniques. It assumes you have planned and presented your own distance education course or program within your subject matter.

The key component of this course is to analyze instructional video formats that are successful. From the analysis, you develop a format for your own personal distant teaching use and create a sample presentation that you deliver during the course.

The course also focuses on methods that encourage participation, skills for using advanced multimedia techniques, approaches to learner as well as program evaluation, and further develop your ability to create and edit meaningful electronic field trips.

A presentation before course leaders and peers is required to successfully complete this course.

At the conclusion of this course, participants will have gained the ability to:
  • Incorporate interactive activities to engage distance learners.
  • Develop advanced instructional formatting skills.
  • Integrate distance education into community learning centers.
  • Build a telecommunication system.
  • Produce electronic field trips.
  • Use multimedia in distance education.
  • Assess learner progress, comprehension, and competencies.
